A brainchild of PP Rtn. Brotindro Mullick, the Rotary Club of Calcutta Magnum was formed by fifteen young and dynamic enthusiasts in 2006 under DG Rtn. Swapan Mukherjee. Though engaged in different professions including advertising, business, media, IT, public relations, advocacy and others, they maintained similar mindset to serve the humanity and placed ideologies of Rotary as their primary objectives. It is as well to mention that most of them had been Rotaract members and eventually nurtured in the basic principles of Rotary from a very tender stage of their lives.

Rotary Club of Calcutta Magnum began its journey under the able leadership of Sunny Kollanur and GSR Rtn. Bimal Pal from the sponsoring club - Rotary Club of Calcutta Metropolitan and successfully undertook different welfare and social activities in and around the city in subsequent years. The first meeting of the club took place at Birla Planetarium. Among the many projects the club undertook, the most notable one was to host Rotary District Assembly of 2011-2012 with Rtn. Sunny Kollanur as Assembly Chairman under the guidance of the then DG Rtn Angsuman Bandyopadhyay. We are proud to mention that PP Brotindro Mullick lead the GSE team to Brazil during 2011-2012 while Rtn. Angsuman Bandyopadhyay was the DG.

The current Rotary year is presided by Rtn. Apratim Ghoshal, an entrepreneur, IT and media professional and enthusiast photographer. His knowledge and managerial skill enriched in realistic levels through his extensive tour all over the globe has opened up the fountain of a number of innovative and interesting welfare projects. Braving numerous critical challenges he is going ahead to elevate the club to greater magnitude in months to follow.
